Robotically welded cargo-bed structure at production volume

Ridgeland robotically welds cargo-bed product for Cargo Bed International — a truck-equipment OEM whose decks carry working loads in the field every day.

The challenge

A cargo-bed structure has to take repeated, eccentric loads without a weld letting go. The OEM needed welds that were not just strong on the first unit, but identical across every unit — at a volume a manual weld shop can't hold to spec.

The approach

We fixtured the assembly for repeatable joint geometry and proved the weld program on a first article, then ran the work through robotic GMAW cells so heat input and penetration stay constant unit to unit.

The outcome

Consistent, inspection-ready welds delivered on a repeating schedule — the kind of repeatability that lets an OEM build a product line on a single fabrication source.
